Walking in a winter wond… no, I can’t type the rest, it’s too cheesy

5 December 2006

I was going to avoid Christmas-related websites on website of the day, but this one is sufficiently cool to be worth a look. My Christmas Wonderland is a neat application of Google Maps to show the locations of houses with OTT Christmas lights. You can submit the location of any you know, or even your […]

We, the undersigned…

28 November 2006

Today’s website is an interesting experiment in online democracy. The government website for the Prime Minister has recently had a new section added to it where you can sign, or even create, a petition to the PM. I’m not entirely sure if it’s gping to be welcomed by Tony Blair, given that the most popular […]

Arty cats

23 November 2006

I don’t normally do commercial sites on website of the day, but this one amused me enough to add to the list. The Cat Gallery features pictures of cats done in the style of famous artists - so you can have a Van Gogh cat, a Picasso cat, a Monet cat, etc. Nice, if you […]

Feeling quizzical

21 November 2006

Yes, we have a website of the day today, after another hiatus due to one or other of us being away. Today’s site is QuizFarm.com, a site where you can quiz yourself - or create quizzes for others - on pretty much any topic you like. What’s your theological worldview?

I think I’m becoming a gnome

Today’s website is the, frankly, bizarre BecomeAGnome.com. And that’s pretty much all I’ve got to say about it!

Food, glorious food

8 November 2006

Been having lots of conversations about food recently, so that’s the topic of today’s website. FoodieView is a search engine for recipes - whatever you want to eat, it’s all there! I even found a recipe for locusts. Make of that what you will.

Albert says that E = MC squared

7 November 2006

For today’s website, I’ve gone for something a bit different.Well, different to the usual pointless stuff, anyway. Today, we feature the Albert Einstein archives, at www.alberteinstein.info. Over 43,000 records of Einstein and Einstein related documents, all there for your intellectual perusal.

Make something creative

24 October 2006

On previous websites of the day, we’ve done things like the church sign generator and the warning sign generator. Well, I suppose it was inevitable that someone would bring together a whole batch of links to pages that allow you to create wacky images. Txt2pic is just that - loads of links to sign generators. […]

What’s on the other side?

19 October 2006

Ever wondered where you’d end up if you dig a hole all the way through the centre of the Earth, starting from where you’re standing? Well, DigHoles.com will tell you. I’m directly opposite a section of the ocean near New Zealand, it seems.

We’ll build this city…

18 October 2006

Today’s website is a simple, but nice, online toy. City Creator is a Flash-based application where you can create miniture cities - a bit like a simplified online version of Sim City. It’s not particularly demanding, but it’s something to while away a boring day.
