Football and a harmonious home

This will be my first World Cup as a married man. Which also means it will be the first World Cup where negotiating both access to the TV and time to watch the matches will be an issue. Now, there’s a well-publicised Internet meme called World Cup Rules For Girls, but somehow I don’t think I’ll get away with enforcing it in my house. So I’m hoping for some tips from those who have been there and done it, so to speak. Any suggestions?
