Consistent reporting?

“Whatever happened to consistency?” asks Joe Lovejoy in today’s Sunday Times, in his column on page 4 where he also opines that “the Owen-Gerrard combination up front is unsound and “[there is no] need to disorient the team by scrapping the 4-4-2 with which they have become familiar”. However, a writer in the World Cup 2006 pullout disagrees – he believes that Gerrard is “ideally equipped to play just behind the main striker” and would “facilitate the inclusion of Michael Carrick in the holding role”. Nothing wrong with having different opinions in the same newspaper – except that this second piece was also written by, er, Joe Lovejoy. I’d like to know what happened to consistency, as well.
